Lead Editorials

For each of our monthly print news magazines, we write a lead-editorial (lead-ed). The following is our process for doing so.

  1. Brainstorm lead-ed topics
  2. Create discussion questions and garner resources for staff members to read about the given topic
    1. An aesthetic revolution
    2. Old enough to vote, old enough to advocate
    3. Beyond the lens
    4. Civically minded or civically blinded?

  3. Discuss the given topic during journalism and take notes during discussion
    1. Old enough to vote, old enough to advocate
    2. Beyond the lens
    3. Civically minded or civically blinded?

  4. Write the lead-editorial
    1. An aesthetic revolution
    2. Old enough to vote, old enough to advocate
    3. Beyond the lens
    4. Civically minded or civically blinded?

  5. Receive feedback from staff members regarding whether the lead-ed accurately reflects their viewpoints, and make changes accordingly
