The Why

I love journalism because through it, I can learn a little bit of everything. With this article, I gained the opportunity to learn more about sports.

The Process

1. I conducted a twelve minute interview with varsity basketball player and Jefferson senior Savannah Wilson to learn more about her story as an accomplished basketball player.
2. Reflecting on this article written two years ago, I’m proud to see how my writing has improved since then. Most of the quotes I use in this article describes what she does, which I could have simply paraphrased instead of quoting. If I were to revisit this article, I would have used quotes that better describe how she was feeling in place of the quotes that I currently use.

The Impact

Writing this article, I immersed myself in sports vernacular—a language opaque with jargon with which my unathletic-self was unfamiliar. This article helped me become much more comfortable with writing more sports articles.
